Is it Rude Not to Advise Outcome of Job Application?

Do you think it’s rude not to advise people of the outcome of their job application?

It happens all the time. You apply for a job and then there is a huge void. You didn’t get an interview so you just assume that you didn’t get the job. Or you get an interview and that’s the last you hear.

I’m a bit old fashioned. I believe people should be advised of the outcome of their applications. Unfortunately, my business ethics are out of date in today’s business world. However, I didn’t let that bother me when I was recruiting. I always let applicants know what had occurred.

With email, which almost everyone has, it doesn’t take a lot of time or money to advise applicants of the status of their applications. It’s quick and effective and shows that you care.

I think it’s poor business practice not to advise people what the outcome of their application was? What do you think?
